“SONG FOR EWE TWO”
with DYLAN HUNDLEY of
“SONG FOR EWE” is the feature where artists & music people beloved by VELVET SHEEP choose an obscure song they’ve been listening to that day. Today’s guest is a welcome return from Dylan Hundley, one half of NYC garage duo Lulu Lewis with her partner in crime and love Pablo Martin (Tom Tom Club). Lulu Lewis have got a new video for their Contortions meets Flying Lizards should-be/will-be classic, the tongue in cheek “One Note Rock and Roll” and I love it. No stranger to film, as actor and director, the camera can’t take it’s eyes off Dylan, and you won’t be able to either (or get the song out of your head either). Speeding…action!
Since I enjoyed Dylan’s first VS foray, and she sent me the new video nugget I thought let’s get one of our new favourite punks back on the page and asked her for another cheeky song choice. The picture below depicts how I imagine Dylan listened to her latest “song for ewe”…
Before we get to Dylan’s second pop pick, it’s worth saying at this juncture Lulu Lewis is opening for punk rock legend Richard Lloyd (Television) on April 6th at The Bowery Electric in NYC…which is not to be missed!
And not to keep you hanging on any longer, here’s Dylan herself…with another top drawer tune…a real classic.
“Nick! Thanks for asking me to chime in again re a song that is pulling at me and making me swoon.
I do tend to get totally fixated at times and myopically focused on a single track or artist. Over the last year its been Roxy Music, in a major way.
They are always “there” but just more so for me at the moment. Can’t say enough about them right? Musically, visually….just so incredibly dynamic, surprising, rocking, beautiful and so very often in one track! One track that just takes you on a sublime ride. This for me right now is the achingly beautiful and huge, “Out of the Blue”. Cheers!!”
CHEERS DYLAN! YOU’RE WELCOME ON HERE ANY TIME.
