“SONG FOR EWE”
with FRANCY GRAHAM of
CHAIN & THE GANG
“SONG FOR EWE” is the feature where artists & music people beloved by VELVET SHEEP choose an obscure song they’ve been listening to that day. Today’s guest is the guitarist with the coolest band on the planet Chain & The Gang. Led by Ian Svenonius, DC legend ex of MAKE-UP and Nation of Ulysses, Chain has an all new line-up since the aces “Minimum Rock N’ Roll” but with a look and sound unparalleled, this could be the best incarnation yet. We’ve already had the peerless Anna Nasty here on VS, so it’s about time we met the effortless axe hero, who would never be found stuck in a box or a pigeon hole, it’s the outstanding, close friends call her Francy Z Graham – Francy Graham!
Just as a quick reminder of a fellow Gang member, here’s Anna’s “song for ewe”
I asked Francy about the forthcoming and long awaited Chain record:
The new Chain and the Gang record, ‘The Best of Crime Rock’- features Anna Nasty on bass, the amazing Mark Cisneros on drums, myself on guitar, and of course Ian on vocals, and comes out very soon on In The Red records. This record will most similar to our current live set. In March we are touring Australia and New Zealand with the lovely Fiona Campbell on drums (here is more info:
And without further ado, here’s Francy’s choice, my favourite since Julie Cafritz of Pussy Galore chose “Launderette” by Vivienne Goldman!
“I recently wrote a paper on Lydia Tomkiw’s (of Algebra Suicide) poetry.
She has a published book of poems ‘The Dreadful Swimmers’ that I have searched far and wide for on the deep web but I can’t seem to find anywhere.
This is my favorite Algebra Suicide song and every time I listen to it I get goosebumps!”
CHEERS FRANCY!!! LOOK OUT FOR THE NEW CHAIN & THE GANG RECORD ON IN THE RED…
