LUCKY 7 is the feature where we ask artists to name their 6 favourite songs by others, and a lucky 7th song of their own…

Today we feature Leeds rockers Pulled Apart By Horses, who return with their mosh inducing new album ‘The Haze’ on March 17th. Over to guitarist James Brown with their Lucky 7…

1. Tigercub – ‘Control’
Been listening to this one all week and I absolutely love it. It’s a really smooth catchy single with some good old Tigercub riffs and thrills layered over the top. We’re taking these guys out with us around the UK in March/April and I literally can’t wait to watch them every night.

2. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – ‘Rattlesnake’
Tom our singer has been rattling on about these guys recently and I’ve kept missing the opportunity to see them live. So I finally sat down and gave them a good hard listen and now I love them to pieces. They have a really old-school psychedelic rock vibe going on and have also totally mastered the art of music video making. Have a watch!

3. Kagoule – ‘Glue’
Kagoule are a fairly new band I’ve seen a lot online recently. I heard this single on BBC 6 Music not too long ago too and it appears to be one of those tracks that is now imprinted on both my brain and ear drums. Check it out.

4. Pavement – ‘Shady Lane’
I was moving all my vinyl upstairs last week and ‘Brighten The Corners’ by Pavement fell out from a wod of records I was carrying. It was a sign. I banged it on and remembered how amazing this track/album is. Beautiful tune.

5. The Cramps – ‘New Kind Of Kick’
I only just recently got into The Cramps through a fellow music lover and feel pretty stupid for not getting stuck into their back catalogue years ago. Loving this track, and the album (‘Bad Music For Bad People’) is an utter stunner if you like your guitars as dirty as your boots.

6. Laura Marling – ‘Soothing’
This recent single from Laura Marling is absolutely incredible. A super talented song-writer, and the strings and atmospherics in this track really are something else. Pulls at the heart strings this one, and the outro is truly hypnotising.

Lucky 7: PULLED APART BY HORSES – ‘Hotel Motivation’
So this right here is our brand new single from our new album ‘The Haze’, out in March. It’s a stomping rock n’ roll riot which was influenced by a lack of sleep and our favourite musical uncle, Iggy Pop.
