LUCKY 7 is the feature where we ask bands to name their 6 favourite songs by others, and a lucky 7th song of their own…

Here’s the latest by a band whose album we reviewed (and loved) here…

It’s possibly the best new band to emerge from a garage since the Coachwhips, and certainly the best world music since Santana and well GOAT’s “World Music”. They also happen to be on the thrombosis dissipating, vein popping label PNKSLM run by old Velvet Sheep oppo and The Lusts / Sex Beet leader Luke (no really) Reilly, possibly the best new punk label on the planet right now. What a combo. Better than a KFC variety meal with extra hot wings, it’s the group that sound like they come from everywhere and yet nowhere specific on earth at least, choosing the songs that rock their boat – it’s SUDAKISTAN and specifically their languid powerhouse drummer – Juan Jose Espindola

  1. Banda Pachuco “Mambo Lupita”

It’s a song about a girl that wants to dance and the father says no and the mother says yes. It’s a really fun song. We listen to this tune all the time to warm up for a gig.

2. The Budos Band “Black Venom”

We discovered this song during one tour to Gothenburg and it set the mood for the rest of the ride.

3. Willie Colon “Juanito Alimania”

This is Arvid’s favourite song. It talks about a guy that robs and do whatever he wants because nobody dares to face him.

4. Black Sabbath “Iron Man”

Micho was so into this band during the writing process of ‘Atomico’ and it is a really good song.

5. Santana “Soul Sacrifice”

Carlos Santana is a huge influence to us and this song is a master piece of Latin fusion rock

6. Thee Oh Sees “Toe Cutter-Thumb Buster”

This songs makes you want to stop with whatever you are doing and just start to dance and jump around like crazy.

7. Sudakistan “Skymmning”
Because we are not used to play it very often. While playing the song live,it gives us a lot of emotions. The beginning is calm and the intensity increases until it explodes in a wave of sound.
