Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth ledge has released a special edition limited single “Mx Liberty / Panik” on London Hackney’s own Blank Editions label, today February 19th in time for President’s Day, or as he unsurprisingly styles it “Not My President Day”.

Hooray for Thurston, who if there was any justice would have his own boat-race carved in stone on Mount Rushmore (or Mount Rock-more, more like huh-uh-huh) for this timely 1-2-X-U of a 7″.

Thurston lately of the Stoke Newington parish, a stones throw from Blank Editions, comes up trumps with an A-side of “Mx Liberty” in collaboration with the poet Radieux Radio in response to the clown in chief and his “mockery of democracy”.

Also playing with his current band line up which includes Deb Goodge (My Bloody Valentine), James Sedwards (Nøught) and Jem Doulton (Dead Days Beyond Help) the single was recorded in a studio near the early ‘70s hq of Britain’s Angry Brigade on Amhurst Road, N16. According to sources close to Moore “This non-violent group of anarchists, poets and writers of resistance remain a source of radical inspiration for Thurston & Radieux.”

On the flip side of the vinyl is a unique cover of the 1977 song “Panik”, one of Thurston’s particular favs, originally recorded by Paris punks, Metal Urbain.
