“SONG FOR EWE”
with CHLOE PHILIP of
“SONG FOR EWE” is the feature where artists & music people beloved by VELVET SHEEP choose an obscure song they’ve been listening to that day. Today’s guest is the latest addition to the band Kurt Cobain wished he could have been in, if not Nirvana, BMX Bandits! The winsome indie pop band led by Duglas T Stewart is pleased as punch to include the talents of the multi instrumentalist, (new on the next album in 2017) vocalist, and occasional disco girl, the super douper Chloe Philip, and so are we here at VS!
First here’s a quick reminder of Duglas’ recent song choice as an aperitif…
and now for the main…without further ado, it’s over to the ace Chloe…
“My Song for Ewe is “Something’s Gone” by The Jam. This isn’t the British group The Jam featuring Paul Weller. This is by an American Garage group with the same name from 1968. I first heard the song when it was used in Paul Kelly’s excellent documentary about The Dolly Mixture Take Three Girls. I fell in love with the song instantly. It has an unusual combination of a sad lyric about falling out of love with an uplifting melody”
THANKS CHLOE! CHEERS DUGLAS. LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEW BMX BANDITS NEXT YEAR.
